GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

I just tried to check out your website and it got a major flag for being 'harmful'. Do you suppose Google or someone thinks you are corresponding too much with the Chinese or perhaps .............
Not sure what the problem is. The advertising on my website is done by SiteBuilder.com. There aren't aren't any NN chickens pictured. Hmmmm..... Let me know if you keep having trouble. SiteBuilder sends me a message about once a week asking me to upgrade to a pay site. Here's a screen shot of my home page. Contact site builder dot com if you keep getting the same message. Give them my URL and have them check for you. http://waddlebockfarm.myfreesites.net/

I sent invoices to those who contacted me regarding capon tools. Beer Can... send me a PM. I need more information. I sent PMs to everyone. I hope to submit this order on Friday. Thanks, everyone. The more people ordering, the lower the international shipping charges will be per person.

Capons from the last class are growing well. No wind puffs. Everyone's eating, drinking, and enjoying time on the grass. They're in a mobile chicken tractor while the weather is good. They'll be moved into the barn if we start having lots of rain, but for now, they're living high on pasture. I dropped a handful of mealworms into the pen before I took this photo.

I don't remember if I ever gave an update, so just for good measure here goes! I tried caponizing 10 or so cockerels this spring, the last half with the help of MaggiesDad. In all, I ended up with 3 solid capons. Unfortunately, 1 completely disappeared with no trace of feathers or anything...he may have wandered off and then been picked up by a predator, 1 was killed by my own dog - apparently he decided to spend the night out on the deck, and 1 is still alive and well.

I did manage to salvage most of the one my dog killed - he had just barely gotten ahold of him when I got out there and only the breast showed any sign of trauma. Nothing like skinning a chicken unexpectedly before you leave for work...

My plan was to have the surviving one for Easter but I'm a little attached to the yard art at the moment so he probably has another month or so of life to enjoy. Also I've recently hatched chicks with plans to hatch a batch every 3 weeks so I'm interested to see how he takes to them. He's pretty skittish so he doesn't tend to pose well for pictures, but here he is yesterday in the yard!

My chicks are a week old tomorrow so I'll be dusting my tools off in a few weeks! I should get a ton of practice this summer!

He looks good! How old was he when you caponized him? Does he crow much?

Probably 6-8 weeks. I don't really recall the exact age, I just remember MaggiesDad commenting they were a little bigger than what he usually worked with and their side feathers had grown in quite a bit. He's never crowed, one of the many side effects (or perks if you can't have a rooster).

Update for those who ordered tools in March: I've seen photos, so all sets are purchased and will be packed this week. I haven't received a shipping invoice yet. I'll let everyone know when I've got it. It can take two or three weeks to get a package here.

Did he ever crow before being caponized? I have a couple boys at the moment, but one is crowing already. So I think I missed my window....

This is probably best left for one of the many resident experts here but from what I've read in this forum, the older they get the harder the procedure is to perform with a lower chance of success. I believe most would tell you it's too late, but I'll let @Poco Pollo or @Kassaundra chime in.

Mine will be 8 weeks this Wednesday. A Marans and a sapphire for sure are male. Considering caponizing to eliminate crowing, but don't seem to get the timing right.
