GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

I was going to place an order, but was a little nervous about entering my Credit Card at the site. Is that how you paid, and I assume no problems?

You can pay by credit card on the Mister Tao website. It's not an easy site to navigate, and some of the instructions aren't clear. I've ordered through Mister Tao and through another tao bao agent. Send me a PM if you want information about the other tao bao agent. I find that his commission is lower than the big website, and his shipping charges are for the actual weight of the package. He operates with a PayPal account. First you find what you would like to purchase, then you send the link to the site where you found the product. Type up a description and the price shown on the website, and ask the tao bao agent to buy the product for you. He/She sends you a paypal invoice. After you make the first payment, the agent buys the product and sends you a photograph to confirm that the correct item was purchased. You give the okay, and then you receive a second paypal invoice for the shipping charges. These can't be calculated until after the product is boxed and weighed, so each transaction must have two payments. It's that simple

. I'm being facetious. I haven't had any problems ordering from China. It just takes more time, and you end up paying two invoices because the shipping is calculated after the agent buys your product.

One of my slips started crowing this week. He sealed his fate. I have a new batch hatched out this week, way to soon to scope out the boys, but I am planning on doing them at 4 weeks old, really hoping to get good at one removing both testes from the one side. Some of the boys are getting really big, way out growing the others, it will be interesting to see if those are the full capons. I know the one crowing is one of the leaner smaller ones. This next batch I will definitely mark the slips and full capons w/ banding.

But sooooo worth the hassle you will love the retractor especially, the other tools are good too, but that retractor is great.

Hey MaggiesDad, Have you processed any of your White American Bresse? That is what I caponized yesterday, and have wondered if anybody had tasted of them yet. You can tell that yours have been caponized, because they don't have those HUGE combs. How old were yours when they were caponized?

Roasted that AWB capon (slip) with the redder comb last week - awesome good chicken! I know why the French are so proud of them now.
6.5lb, nice fat, beautiful carcass, really well proportioned... I have pics that I will try to post up.

6.5 lbs, how old? Live or processed weight?

Good luck Kassaundra on your next procedure! Sounds like the big ones are capons.

Great idea to mark the slips. You'll have to let us know how those capons fare at the dinner table.

I'm thinking I'll put a leg band on each leg for the side that was a known slip. So no leg band will mean a full capon.
