I don't have my batteries yet, but my good LED headlamp came in. I ordered a smaller one on Amazon but it's tiny All the way from China for about $3 shipping . I think it was around $12 or so on Amazon. Preparing!!!!!

Mostly, but can be a pet thing, if someone wants the pretty "hen" that turns out to be a roo, and they or their kids have "fallen in love with" but they can't have roos.

For the people who sent me a message about the order for January, I've been in contact with my guy in China. He has the list and is working to get the tools.

For the clinic, I've ordered surgical clip-on headlights that are identical to the light that I have on my surgical loupes. All clinic participants can use one of the clip-on headlamps if they bring a pair of safety or regular glasses. I will try to get some clear safety glasses before March 16. Bring your own headlamp and compare. I think you'll be happy to have the extra boost given by the focused 18,000 lux - 30,000 lux these lamps provide.

Participants don't need to bring disinfecting supplies. As part of the instruction fee, I will provide a surgical kit for each participant that will have beta-dyne, hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls, Q-tips, etc. I will have Chinese tools to loan to participants who don't have their own tools.

After the clinic, participants can purchase tools, disinfecting boxes, and headlamps. Four seats are taken, leaving two seats at the clinic. Send me a PM if you'd like to participate on March 16.

I'm working on handouts. I want to send everyone home with a step-by-step tutorial that can be shared with others who want to revive this lost art. On a less pedantic note, we're going to have a goofy chicken hat drawing after everyone's finished his or her fifth capon.

Awsome post ! I'm new here and just made a post pertaining to this on the "meat chickens" forum. Wish i'd seen this before .. woulda made the post here. When we caponized 10 cockerels for my son's 4H project, they were hands down the best poultry I've ever had. The meat is very fine textured and so tender and juicy. I guess it's because they never start chasing other birds ..no fighting...no crowing (BONUS !) and become so docile and friendly. They follow you all over whenever your out. All they wanna do is eat and grow .. we let them grow to nearly a year old and they were huge fat tasty buggers.Def going to do some more. OOPS ! just noticed I guess this is the forum I post me previous post on.... duh !

LOL That is okay, keeping the threads straight is sometimes confusing even when you have been on here a while.

Caponizing tools are ordered and I wonder what else I need. Should I get a cauterization tool, suture needle and what about a knife?
