GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

The wire tool in the Chinese set is difficult to learn, but once you get it, you won't want to use a grab-and-pull tool. Learning to manipulate a flexible thread takes time, but it's an investment in your skill set. With the straw as with the polyp remover, the testicle may be crushed rather than cleanly removed. Part of the testicle can be pulled into the straw or tube, causing it to rupture.

Just an update -- I gave my boss 16 or so hatchlings a bit over a month ago to replace some of her layer flock that fell to predation. I jokingly told her that ~50% would be males and they could be caponized instead of dealing with all the young roosters. She's pretty practical but still gave me the "you're strange" look. Today, at work, she asked me if I would still be willing to work on the birds? Apparently, she mentioned it to her husband early on and he has been pestering her about it recently. He hates the young, teenage rooster stages and wants to avoid it if possible. I told her we (he and I) would get it done as soon as the weather clears up a bit. I should get 6-8 maybe 9 birds to work on. I think I'll try the NO stitch method. I also have 41 eggs in the bator on week 2 that will be split up between two families looking for some layers. They'll get the same "nudging" that ~1/2 will be boys and we can fix that

. I might just get plenty of practice this spring.

I would have liked to join in the class, although it is a little far for me. Unfortunately, I have another commitment for the same weekend. I don't know why, but that weekend there are 5 different things going on that I would like to do.
