Yeah, I'd not chance it.

I thought you'd be able to have a bird transport box on the bus, but I just found information that says otherwise. I will raise your capons and find a way to get them to you when they are mature. I have been wanting to make a trip to the southeast to take photographs and make gravestone rubbings to show my students next year. We'll talk about the custody arrangement for your capons when you're here : )

Yes, I'll share.

Well I processed Tric tonight he was a slip, but I thought he was full capon at the time of the procedure, well he had a tiny bb size/shaped testicle I was surprised how small since he was so bright red and had started trying to mount the girls.

Kass - Are you planning to bring your own chicks for the clinic, or would you prefer to have yours the same breed and age the group works on? I'm going to place my order with Ideal Poultry on Wednesday, and I'm trying to figure out how many of what to order. My plan is to get enough NN, BR, and Buff Rock for eight people to work on, about five or six apiece. Does that sound right to you?

I'm rethinking the BR. They mature to a pound lighter than the Buff Rocks. Buff Rocks and NN will weigh about the same at maturity, but the NN have the distinct advantage of having fewer feathers to pluck. There's the dinner timer.

Wasn't sure if we would have time to caponize chicks ourselves if we were helping others.

I'm thinking I'll do a demonstration and explain the tools, and you can take photos to post on the thread. After that, we will split the attendees into two groups so they can see better and you will do one and I will do a second capon. After that, we will be helping the attendees caponize by answering questions, guiding them through the steps, and assisting as needed. If attendees do two before lunch and three after lunch, I think we'll have a full day of practice.

So that will be 3 birds between us then 1 for your whole group demo, then 1 each for the 1/2 group demo. I plan on ordering some NN but from an individual breeder so not sure if they will be the right age and since I'll only need the one I'll use it from your group.

Maybe not, but I'm a paramedic, I can eat through ANYTHING! lol
LOl. Sitting at a chicken show last Sat. waiting for the judge to get finished, we are snacking and chatting; I absently described the extensive injuries to my ducks from the bobcat.... then realized that one of the ladies at the table was looking a bit green around the gills so I quit.
