{graphic Pics!!} - What Did This???!!!!

I have to agree with the majority of posts...it was a mink or weasel. I hope you catch it before it makes another raid. Once you catch one make sure you keep resetting your trap. I have heard they are territorial but I think more will move in once your culprit is removed.

Good luck to you!

. I'm so sorry you lost them all that way, really rough way to start the morning. Please update when you catch the killer.

Reading all the posts I say mink or weasel too. I see a lot of people saying not racoon but I have seen firsthand racoons do the same surplus killing. Got I.to our baby chick pen once and beheaded plenty of them. Killed plenty others. Then it walked out with the one we caught it in there with. Anyhow good luck catching it. Everyone says they are hard to trap but I can't help but wonder what they use when they trap them for coats. I say try to find out and you will be victorious. I keep a live trap out all of the to.e waited with hard boiled eggs because I have had my share of racoons trouble throughout the years. Nthis year is my first recovery from a whole family of them previously.

Mink I believe can be taken using quite a range of bait, the one in this case (if it is a mink) would be the bloody remains of one of the birds.

Due to the size of the entry holes they found i don't see how this could have been a racoon.....Weasels however can get through the tiniest space..if their head fits through it then they do ...so if it's even a 2 to 2 1/2 " opening ,well there you go..NASTY critters too.
and yeah, they are prone to frenzy/blood lust killings where anything that moves is in danger once they've gotten a taste of blood/kill.
what a sad thing ....
It's is WONDERFUL that you found your 1 hen alive though !

This is just AWEFUL! I am so sorry! I hope you can get the buggers with the rat traps. Will you post if you do? Best Wishes. What a blessing that you still have your one girl.
