grass clippens

Hello,
I am not sure if I am posting this is the right section or not. But I have a question?????? Does any one on here give grass clippings to your chickens.
Today I mowed my grass and I have a bag on it that collects the clippings. I then go into my open coop run and throw piles in there My chickens love it. They go in the piles and start scraping.
They use to free range until the turkeys came because our bourban wants to feel tough with them. But We also have that one cockey hen who feels tough too. So they are seperated..

Hmmm. I have never given them grass clippings. Are they eating the grass? The bugs in the clippings or the weed seeds?

Just curious because I was told not to give my horses clippings because they have a more concentrated amount of nitrogen (?) and it would make them ill.

I do for the sebrites and the chicks I have in separate pens with their moms. Everyone else free-ranges 2 acres. They LOVE the grass, and eat it up ALL GONE! Yes, they eat grass! I cut up the grass with scissors for the little chicks so they don't choke on it - makes it easier to eat. It is true, however, that horses should never be given straight up lawn clippings. As long as the grass isn't treated w/herbicides and pesticides - no problem!

I give mine clippings from the bag too. They usually get 1 bag everytime I do the lawn and they love it. They eat the grass as well as any bugs they find. I have never noticed any ill effects. I also give it to my geese when they can free range.

Mine get the clippings also, they love it, and they free range all day as well........ they still love to get down in those piles of grass clippings and hunt for bugs...........

Do they need them to be of a certain length not to get stuck in the crop?
