grass fertilizer?

my chickens ARE grass fertilizer(ers)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in the Lawn Care industry for 15 years. And any fert with a coating like crabgrass control, Merit, Halts, or weed control is not safe for chickens. We would tell customers to water in for 25 minutes or more to get the coating in the soil. But think about it. Your chickens dig in the top thatch and soil. So still getting into the insect or herbicide.
So I dont do any fert in my back yard just my front and sides. Better safe then sorry I say.
