Grass Seed?

I need to plant some grass seed in a few areas. What is the best way of doing this so my chickens dont eat it all up?

Cover it with a sheet of polythene with bricks to hold it down. It keeps it damp in dry areas and warm in cold areas. Take it off when it germinates...then the hens will dig it up and wreck it!

You'd have to fence off that area being planted. Otherwise they will eat the seed, or scratch it to death. And they will watch you plant it too, so you have to try to fool them.
