Is there some type of seed to plant that the chickens really like?I am making their run 60ft.x 60ft.all of which is mowed now but I think it won't be this season since it will be their run and wondered if I tossed some seeds out what would be good.I know tsc sells some different types of things like pasture grass etc.would that be better?thanks

not sure what kinds grow in Michigan, but I would plant one with deep rhizomes, or roots that form a network under the topsoil, six or eight inches to maybe a foot deep, simply because it will regenerate on its own after the chickens finish their massacre job of mowing and dustbathing. Call your local ag extension and ask if they can suggest a variety that would work for you and a local source where you can buy it.. Good luck, and kudos to you for giving them a grazing area! Your chickens will be happier for it.
