Gravel yard!?!

I've almost finished my coop, next is the run but before that i have to figure out the ground. The place i live at has gravel yard.... i hate it and believe the chickens will too. I bought some outdoor carpet and am planning on putting down dirt. Anyone have any better ideas?

Maybe if your into gardening you could put some garden boxes where one you can plant two your chickens can fertilize and three they will eat the bugs.

That could work. Are there a lot of harmful plants? I was thinking if I did just dirt I could buy some bugs that chickens like and hope they multiply.

Thanks for a great idea.. I'm not super garden savvy person but my wife likes to grow her own flowers..

Im not familiar with the plants they cant eat so you should try a little research.
