I have two hens that I believe could be responsible for this. I found one of these piles of gravely poo yesterday and two today.

If you have instructions for me, please walk me through them or link me to a video or an article. I have a brain injury so very specific instructions are needed. Thank you!!

Do you have any chickens with a large crop and pebbly-feeling? Does that look like your grit, or is there somewhere where they are eating something that looks like that? Could it possibly be granular fertilizer or tiny pebbles?

Thank you for your reply.

Neither has a large or abnormal crop.

It's not fertilizer as neither we, nor any neighbors fertilize. It's likely the smallest rocks of the pea gravel from the run and other areas where they roam. The only other option would be the oyster shell or granite grit provided free choice to them.

Oyster shell is chaulky white. My granite grit is solid gray. But it could be tiny gravel quartz or something like that. I would try to keep them away from it, since chickens have been known to gorge on rocks and become impacted in the crop and the gizzard. They need to be around some, but I’m wondering if one has some sort of problem gorging on it. Here is a thread with xrays of a hen who ate too much grit:
