Gravity Water Container overflows

Any idea of why my gravity waterer overflows? I have one that works fine and two that just spills water over the edges or lip of the bowl. These are the galvanized metal 5 gal units from Tractor Supply. Thanks in advance...Jumbo

Check the o-ring/gasket to see if it's there and/or old and needs to be replaced.

I have a friend who had a 3-gal plastic waterer and the water always spilled out when she filled it. I checked it and there was no gasket. She got one at the feed store and now it works!
