Grazing frame plans to protect grass for chickens

Hey Coop :) I use this type of bread crate:

If used 'as is' it is about 15cm (6 inches) high, but I just dig the sides into the ground a little. Or you could cut the longer sides off :)

I'm adding these to my list of things to do. Thank you for the great idea.

I'm so doing this in the spring! Between my chickens and my bunny it's down to bear dirt. I might even do some with herbs mixed in for some added flavor. It'll be nice once I till it up a bit and work the chicken and bunny poo into it.

What a great idea. I am expanding my run in the spring and adding a roof. I have been trying to think up how I can make a grassy area for them in the run and this looks like it will work well. I really like that there is a small path through them. LOL if a hen does not want to walk on the hardware cloth she can still have a nibble.

Do you need the wheat grass to be in the direct sun? My run is shaded

I don't think you need direct sun, since many people grow wheatgrass indoors. The area we seed for them in our yard gets partial sun and does really well late-spring to fall.
