double barrel shot gun at best 4-6 people injured/killed if needed *at best*. ar15 minimum 10+ I choose the ar15
If those are my only 2 options then I guess I would go with the Ar-15 although Shotgun ammo atm is cheaper where I live. However I am wondering where your getting those injured/killed numbers from? 4-6 from how many shotgun shells fired? 10+ From an AR-15... from a 10,20,30, or 90rnd drum?

I only ask because I do shoot for competitions and am a PROPER gun rights supporter. I have found alot of people have misguided information about the reality of a combat type situation. For instance if you have that AR-15 with a standard 30rd magazine then the only time I would think you could hit 10+ people is if they were a crowd or you were shooting unarmed people. Dont get me wrong I have a custom build AR-15 with pics in the "First AR build" thread. I just want to make sure nobody gets themselves in life ending situation by being over confident.

To your benefit if the choice was between the 2 the double barreled shotgun would be much slower to reload and the recoil would probably limit you to less then 20 shots fired. Whereas the AR has lots of upgrades(LEGOs for grown-ups lol) and magazine changes can be done usually in less than 10 seconds by your average Joe.

I might have missed it but what was the total cost of that purchase? I would love to email my postmaster general and thank him for wasting what I am sure was millions of my tax dollars on ammo to defend my mailbox from being bashed.

LMAO found this response

"$17,000 on shotguns? At a cost of $600/shotgun, assuming they didn't buy the cheapest shotgun (The government never does, Why buy 1 when you can buy 2 for twice the price...), that means they bought over 30 shotguns! 30!!! Can you believe it people? I can't!
I'm pretty sure the local walmart has that many shotguns on the plastic rotating gun display in the hunting dept. Would you shop at Target if Walmart just bought 10000 shotguns? What if Cabela's bought 25,000? It doesn't mean they will use them on you the next time you go buy toothpaste. Stop trying to promote mass hysteria Jones. $17,000 in shotguns means they bought 30. Is this website also run by the people at the onion?"

As an aside, somewhere along this thread I think I was referred to as a "she." I'm actually a "he." My user name (Rosa moschata) refers to the Latin name for a rose I'm going to use as a foundation in my little hybridizing hobby. A picture of it is my chosen avatar. My "actual" name is Christopher.

:)

Just a quick reminder, from the the forum rules, specially rule # 13:

"We strongly discourage religious and political topics and reserve the right to delete them at our discretion."

There are plenty other places on the internet where you can discuss and debate religion. BYC is a family friendly, chicken forum.

Thanks!

Rosa, is that a Lady Banksia? I used to have a cutting from the Rose Tree Inn at Tombstone, Arizona.

That's the largest rose in the world! But no, this is a different species -- if it even is a species. All examples of it are genetically identical clones, passed around for a few hundred years via cuttings. Even the three flower forms of Rosa moschata, which can occur spontaneously, are from one original plant. Most likely, it was a freak reblooming form of something related to Rosa brunonii that was preserved via cuttings. Unfortunately, it's too cold where I live to grow the Rosa banksiae forms. But when Rosa moschata is in bloom, my yard positively reeks with the scent of cloves -- it's so deliciously fragrant.

So.... since the rest of that rule says to keep it in random ramblings section... can we continue our discussion as it is inherently related to politics?

I wish to beg your pardon but if you wish to discuss this further please either PM the member(s) you wish to speak to or start another thread. By arguing not one person will be persuaded one's personal beliefs. Let's get back to the topic at hand aka great depression of 2016.
Thank you

Waiting for a response from moderators at it would appear the moderators are STRONGLY suggesting against religios or political topics. Since a possilbe depression and our economy are de facto political... I wouldnt want to get suspended account for continuing this thread.

They have let this thread continue for a few months now. I think as long as everyone minds themselves and the site rules, that this thread is alright with the Mods.

The real focus is chickens and the important role they play in keeping us happy and healthy in bad times, as well as good.

Bad times need not be so bad, as long as you have good chickens as company.

I remember my Grandmother and Great Grandparents and the stories they told me about their life and times during the Great Depression.

I love reading the insights of others with similar stories and how they made due. As a matter of fact, for persons like myself, being able to weather the bad times ok with chickens is why we decided to take the plunge into chicken ownership.

I hope the Mods can overlook any trouble with this thread and let us steer it back on course, because this is a very relevant topic for many chicken owners today and I am very much enjoying reading over the posts in this thread.
