Hmmm! We flew to Guadalajara once. No problems leaving the US, but on the return trip they detected something in my sister in laws luggage. There was a big stink. It turned out to be the needles in her sewing kit.

I have a real nice suit case that can never go by plane. It has a metal brace in the bottom. That shows up.

I remember flying from Rhode Island once, when I got my shoes back one of them had a cell phone in it. I don't know who it belonged to or why it was in there.

My dad once had a bullet in his suitcase from the range. He totally forgot about it and when his suitcase went through the scanners...yeah. He said he had guys following him onto the plane.
That is a bit of a issue here in Ga. People have guns an ammo in everything an sometimes it is forgotten about. Guns at the airport is legal here though but they do make a stink at security.

I'm never going on a plane again.  If I can't drive there, I'm not going, is my motto.

Your odds are better on a plane then in a car.

Very true. How often is there a plane crash, and how often are people killed on the roads? The numbers don't really compare.
And it's not all about one's life being in one's own hands; there are some crazily dangerous drivers out there and there's no guarantee we won't ever meet a few of them. At least pilots are all trained and tested thoroughly, and 99.99% of them are reliable and responsible.

And planes don't really hit other planes anymore, what with improved radar and TCAS. Cars hit each other all the time, and it's not often the fault of both drivers.

Sorry, I'm kind of an advocate for air travel. Besides the ridiculous amount of pollution it entails, it's efficient, safe - come on, it's safe. There's one accident flight in many millions, but that's all people ever focus on - and kind of handy when you live on an island in the middle of nowhere with friends and relatives on two other continents.

I am afraid the TSA is an essential evil now days. Without them, we would have airplanes flying into just about everything. It is a bitter but necessary pill.
