And that is what worries me. When and if they don't get their EBT cards funded, what will happen? The Watts riots happened in an era of government largess. The federal government was bound and determined to wipe out poverty. People were getting paid for doing nothing. Kids were getting free breakfast and lunch at school, and their families had food stamps and commodities galore. There would be no poverty in the new society. It was a war on poverty.

At the same time our nation was ramping up for a very expensive war in Indochina. There was no thought as to where the money was going to come from.

Now, what will happen when and if the government cannot or will not fund those programs? Or worse, the money becomes worthless through inflation.

Those that have prepared and have their rations secured will become targets not just of vandals and criminals, but of government bureaucrats. It will be a good time to be in the wilds of Chile or the out back of Australia.

So I read a few pages from this thread and I have to agree with the first post, IMHO I believe Obama is intentionally trying to ruin this country, or he is just that stupid to think what he is doing is going to make the USA better. I have been warning my family for years that they need to have a back up plan, I moved to Germany in 2011 and the rest of my family live in upstate New York. I saw the warning signs of things to come in the USA. My parents are on their way to becoming self sufficient, as are we, though I think we may not have enough time to get fully self sufficient before the collapse. I'm sure when some people talk to me they think I'm a doomsdayer but when people start to criticize me I just tell them that I would rather be prepared for the worst than to have nothing and no plan and be dependent on the government...

Here in Germany you can also see that something is coming soon, there are fears that Russia will begin invading the wester European countries, there has been a lot of talk that Germany will be going back to the deutsch mark try to avoid the collapse of the euro, food, fuel and energy prices are continuing to rise and family income continues to fall. I was stationed here in Germany when they switched to the euro and the prices for goods stayed the same but income was lowered, for example a bottle of soda costed 2 deutsch mark and a person would make 4000 Deutsch mark a month but now a bottle of soda costs 2 euro but only makes 2000 euro. In Germany you are considered well off if you make anything over 14 euros an hour, because of my skill set I am one of the lucky ones. But these jobs are hard to find.

I guess that's enough of my rambling on, my only words of advise would be to prepare for the worst and pray for the best.

Mudgbogg, I would keep an eye on the Fulda Gap if I were you. That is where we always thought the Russians would make their move.

The Fulda Gap was a concern back in the Cold War. In order for that to be a concern today Russia would have to have control over Thüringen, I live about 20 minutes south of the Thüringen Bavarian border, so if that does happen we would be screwed... I was station in budingen which was about 40 minutes from the fulda gap so I am far military with the area, there are even some very old ruins there that you can see from the autobahn...

Heh? Too emotional? If you don't see that the president is trying to ruin the country then you my friend are too blind to assess the situation correctly. I'm just curious what exactly your assessment would be... My assessment is that he is trying to turn its citizens agains each other in order to create civil unrest. He is doing this by turning republicans against democrats, atheists against Christians, blacks against whites, straight people against gays, etc etc etc! Then leaving our boarders unprotected allowing illegal immigrants and terrorists to enter this country which will in return drive the unemployment further through the roof and allow the terrorists to easily infiltrate the USA and further expand their networks. How about not perusing the active terror cells in the USA, and giving the Muslim brotherhood financial support, military vehicles, planes and weapons. How about the numerous violations of the constitution by the president. How about the desire to disarm the USA. I could go on and on! There is a lot more going on than you know and I'm sure there is still a lot I haven't found yet. Just consider this an appetizer...

I'm sorry if my emotions are too much for you, I'm sorry that you are too blind (or brainwashed by cnn, msnbc, abc and oprah) but maybe someday you will look at the facts and do your own research instead of getting your information spoon fed from the liberal channels.

Ummm..... he's not the only one. Those of us who have been receiving all of the advantages of the "migrants" from Latin America, such as the very active MS-13 cliques, tend to agree.

It was amazing how the number of drive by shootings, armed robberies, stabbings, home invasions, and burglaries rapidly declined after ICE and the DEA did a series of joint raids around here.... and then we come to find out that Obama canceled the deportations of 36,000 convicted felons.

I had my identity stolen. I am still attempting to deal with the fact that another state insists I am really a dead Mexican prostitute. Every time I get the police records cleared - or so I think - there it pops up again - which is problematic when having background checks for a position as an engineer.

I don't think President Obama is intentionally anti US, but he is following a liberal agenda that is unrealistic. The agenda assumes that government can right all wrongs and that poor people are oppressed and the wealthy are the oppressors. He is a true believer.

Sadly, things don't work that way. We need rich people to provide capital, develop products and services, distribute goods and keep our system functioning. We also need grunts to work and produce goods.

There are two political parties in this country. One believes that wealth is produced by working, saving and investing. The other believes that wealth is gained by taking it away from others.

Each party sees the other as being evil, and they are both right in some ways.

Nobody wants to be poor. Most of us would not take vows of poverty. How we avoid poverty is the question.

If we follow the liberal agenda, we end up living in something akin to Havana where nothing has been fixed, painted or kept up since 1959. If you look at Detroit, you will see where this is leading in the US. The only viable business in places like Detroit, Flint and now Cleveland seems to be the drug business.

Eventually, we will run out of other people's money. The government resorts to the printing press to fund its social programs. This causes inflation and pretty soon we are all equal - - equally poor. Those that live off of the social welfare system are not about to change their lifestyle.

And then we will have a problem.

The liberal notion is to make people dependent on government programs so that they will always vote for the party most generous with other people's money. We, too, can live in a worker's paradise like North Korea or Cuba. (BTW - Fidel Castro is/was an extremely wealthy individual by any nation's standards. The whole purpose of Communism from what I can tell, is neatly summarized in "Animal Farm", written by a socialist, who had experience of the Communists while he was fighting on the side of the Republic during the Spanish Civil War. The non-Communists were fighting the Fascists; the Communists preferred to redefine all others than them as Fascists and did enormous harm to the cause of the Republic with their deceptions, likes, and propaganda.

I suggest people read it. Some animals are more equal than other.

Well, in Oakland, we have a riot going from Oakland to Berkeley. They have been trying to get onto the freeway to block it, and have said that if vandalism breaks out they won't try to stop it.

Vandalism has already broken out. Meanwhile, back at the ranch in Oakland, even the Sears downtown is shutting down, if it hasn't already, so the protesters apparently have to go to Berkeley to loot. Nobody seems particularly interested in looting Goodwill.

The riot is about the shooting in Ferguson, MO of Michael Brown. Michael Brown was shot after being stopped for walking in the road and blocking traffic. That might be part of why the Oakland protest is trying to take I-880 instead of taking city streets. There is more traffic to block on the freeway.
