I would not bet on it. I can cut my own trees to but I dont live in a city that fines people for having over grown trees ether.

He doesn't need a permit to cut his own trees.

Now there may be a situation such as trees have overgrown a roadway and the road would need to be shut down to safely do the job. That case would need some kind of OK. But it's the exception, not the normal.

Why would you expect someone who just wants a tree trimmed or a ditch dug to do a background check on who they hire to do it? Sure, you could make the argument that a business owner should make sure the people they hire are legal. They are actually taking on real employment with tax requirements. Rufus is not that guy though. He just wants trees trimmed. He has no reason to even care what the guys name is. All he cares about is that the job gets done for the right price. I have never in my life asked for papers showing if someone is legal. I sure dont expect anyone else to do it ether

You do know that the US government wants them here to. When locals catch illegals here they have to let them go. Friends of my have caught van loads of them. They called the feds an every time they are told to let them go. That has been the way it plays out for at least the last 20 years.

Now someone could be selling tools at a swap meet, if you know the person is selling stolen tools and you buy them you are the problem.

Businesses that hire actual employes are another matter, but that is not him.

I don't believe there are Permits required.
Now if he is hiring a company that wouldn't get required permits then he is the problem !
It was you that started with the illegal thing when you gave your reason it was the governments fault.
It has only been you that has continued to say he shouldn't have to do a background check. No one else has said he should.

You said the government wants the illegals here, I posted a link that shows the government says it's illegal to hire the illegals. I didn't say it should apply to him Do you believe that the workers come here illegally to not work for businesses ?

Yes it is, but that's not what this conversation is about, we would agree 100% that the government isn't doing their job.

But to not hire an insured licensed contractor that does the job to code, makes that person the problem.

As far as getting fined for having his trees hanging on someone else property, I don't see what the problem is. Can I infringe on your property when ever I want ?

If the issue was about code, I still think its crap that I should have to hire only who the government approves to cut a tree. That is mine an their private business an the government has no business in it. I should be able to hire anyone I want.


As for the actual over hang of the trees. I have trees that over hang over my neighbors property an he over mine. That is the nature of trees. If I have an issue with his trees or he mine we can take care of it. We dont need some useless government agent to come in an make up an issue just so they have an excuses to to get a pay check every week.

I don't think any government agent just decided to fine him because his trees were overhanging his neighbors property. Now if his trees are overhanging on to a roadway or some government property then yes.
But more then likely it was a complaint from the neighbor, the governments job is to protect everyones property rights. So if you wanted your neighbor to fix the trees overhanging onto your property and he told you to pound sand, what would you do ?

I don't see how someone got illegals or race from MY posts.
I spent a lot of time and money so I can legally do work, having unqualified people doing the work is a liability. I have no problem with others that go through what I have to do work legally no matter where they were born. And the people that hire the unqualified are the problem. But a lot of the times I still end up having to come in and correct the work and get paid more.

Anyway, I apologize if your original comment had nothing to do with the race/legality of the people he hired. That is how I read it an looking back I still do.


But my main point is still the same. He should be able to hire who ever he wants for something as simple as trimming a tree. He should not have to worry about government approval to trim it or who he has do it. The fact that the government thinks he should have their approval first is the real problem, not him for not getting it or hiring from an approved list..
