Great Depression of 2016

I"m curious why you think it was from the FED.

Jon Hilsenrath is the most well-connected journalist to the Fed that works for the WSJ. He has even been called (tongue-in-cheek) "the chairman of the Federal Reserve" as what he writes can impact markets directly. As I understand it, what he writes must be CLEARED by the Fed BEFORE it is printed.

So while he may not be on their payroll (as far as I know), they are VERY aware of what he puts out.... and this article apparently passes muster with them.

If I wrote something, and you okay'd it for publication, you would be equally responsible for the output.

It appears that Dennis has left the thread. I hope he is out there cashing his government bonds.

Me, too. After all, someone's gotta keep the economy running!

Did you have heavy rains? No flooding I hope.

My cousins in the Panhandle said this was the wettest May on record. It will be a good year for grass. Unfortunately, they cut back the cattle herd during the drought.

Hopefully, there will be no fires this summer.

If one can believe the "facts" presented on the Internet, Texas had enough rain in the month of May to cover the whole state with eight inches of standing water.

Legend has it that 163 BILLION gallons fell on Houston alone. The flash flooding has been out of control and extremely destructive... They are attempting to do controlled releases of the water damed up in the lakes. Lake Travis in Austin rose seven feet in a weekend. I wish to anything MrB and I had set up that rain catch system we've been talking about for a year. I've never seen anything so torrential and non-stop.

Fortunately, no one in our social or family circle experienced any flooding... They are still finding bodies of people that were washed away. Very, very sad.

How have you faired? :)

PS - It was weather warfare directed at us to soften Texans up for Jade Helm, I hear. We will welcome to military to help our "hostile" state in this time of emergency...... Six weeks and counting! #doomporn

We seldom get rain here in Phoenix. If we get eight inches in a year, we are lucky. Trouble is, it all seems to come at once. People from other places buy fancy houses built in washes, and then they are surprised when they get flooded.

When we do get rain, the desert greens up nicely. I remember in 1966 and 1967 we had so much rain there was actually water in the river. Too bad we only had two bridges over it.

I saw plants spring up that I had never seen before. The seeds must have lain there for years.

There are a couple of tropical storms coming in from the Pacific, but they usually are exhausted by the time they get through Mexico.

Oh, I forgot you all are going to be invaded. Good luck with that. I think they need to practice on the west coast. That is where the Chinese army will land.

The desert has always fascinated me. :) How any life at all can survive is a miracle! God is in the rain, they say.

And as for the invasion, I believe y'all are on the list, too! I hope we can give them a warm welcome. I wish California the best of luck. :p
