My daughter went with a friend to pick up a puppy she was getting and as I'm sure you can guess she fell in love with one of them, and of course he was the runt of the litter. We have always had GS they make great guard dogs and are very loving and good with children. Our dog Lucky was hit by a car when some neighboring kids got to playing with him when we weren't here and he followed them when they left. He was killed instantly and we were all heart broken, we have had him since he was just about 10 weeks old and he was at least 7 years at the time of his death. So even though we wanted another dog we wanted to wait a little longer, but life throws you curves. Sarge is our new family member and I don't mean that lightly we have had him about 3 weeks. He is the most lovable dog I think I have ever owned. He is great with the kids and since I'm home all day he and I have formed a strong bond. He immediately grownls and barks at anyone who even tries to get close to me when I take him out he loves to run and play and is just a joy to be around. We are keeping him inside right now because he's too little to leave outside. Even though he's still a young pup he is already pretty much potty trained only having accidents if he's left for several hours alone or sometimes during the night but not often. He already knows to go to the door and bark when he needs to go outside. I can't think of any other GS mix that would be so great as Sarge.
