I think it just depends - you will have to spend the time to train him to your boundaries. Mine (1/2 pyr and 1/2 anatolian) can dig under ANY fence. We have one whole side of the back lined with bricks and railroad ties because he's escaped so many times.
In fact, he's so used to getting out and wandering I go get the car, drive around until I see him, stop and open the door, and he jumps in the front seat to be taken home.

And they are BARKERS with capital B. He has greatly camled down with the barking since he turned 2 and he is more willing to take commands now as well, but talk about head strong...
MIne can't be trusted with chickens, but he's good (completely ignores) with the ducks, geese, and donkeys. The chickens are pretty much new this year, so maybe that is why.
