Great Pyrenees thread

You sound ridiculous. Purposes change. Not to mention there’s different lines of dogs too. Show lines are probably happier as pets than a pure working line
Hm, not so nice are you? Very true that purposes change BUT I do believe that all the breeds listed can be happy as pets but would probably be happiER if used for their original purpose. Qinzer never once wanted to come in the house, neither did Aspen who is a purebred Aussie. Both are much happier working.

Not all Prys are good for guardians.
Willow is loved and cared for. She may have the instinct to guard but she doesnt have to.
Just like any dog breed they can make good pets. Likr saying that all German Shepherd should be used to herd(like originally bred for). Or all bully breeds having fighting instincts and will bite at any second(most definitely not true)
Just because you use your pry for livestock guarding doesnt mean everyone HAS to

Nope but I still stand on that fact and nobody will change my mind. Yall can drop it now…it’s been blown out of proportion and way too far derailed🙄I’m not going to force anyone to change their mind but I’m free to state facts. And will continue to on any thread I choose to

The issue was not your opinion

They definitely are, Qinzer started on chickens before we ever got goats, sheep, horses or alpacas

Hmm, seems like you should change your narrative then. I'm sure that you know that LGDs don't bond to fowl the same way they do mammalian livestock. Not to mention that they most definitely did not guard chickens in the Pyrenees

Yes I do know that and it’s stated above 2X now and this will be the third time that I’ve stated that we got her with the intent of getting her started on chickens and then having goats and sheep for her which we got within a couple months of getting her, the plan all along.
