great...the goats got into the chicken house

Just keep an eye on them, and if they start to bloat, give them vegetable oil.

Also put out some baking soda for them

thanks everyone! i have been freaking out about the chicken feed all over the ground too..now i dont have to rake the entire yard free of chicken feed then. luckily i have a new box for animal food that they cant get into.

Goats are very hard to explain. They ignore a perfectly good barn only to crawl under the feeders in the rain. Mine would rather eat the laying pellets if they can instead of their goat feed. They snub hay but would eat all the paper bags they can find.

Don't worry about the food. Mine ate it before I got a good system for feeding worked out. They never missed a beat. If there is a lot of corn in the mix, this can cause bloating. Just watch for their left side to get very pronounced and hard. It is likely this won't happen.

I have the chicken coop and the goat barn in the same pasture. I now feed them at feeders outside the fence, near the feed shed. The chickens free range all day and happily come through the fence for their feed. Unfortunately, now the dogs think the laying pellets tastes better than purina dog chow.
