Hey, JD - funny thing. I saw a black cat that I didn't recognize on my back porch last night. Reminded me that you had one that had disappeared a few weeks back. I don't suppose there's been any sign of Trouble?

A neighbor has a pigeon hanging out at her house. It is not afraid of people but keeps just out of reach. It has two leg bands on. One is silver and the other is blue with a 45 on it. We know of noone around here that has pigeons but that is not to say we know what everone has. How can we find the owner?

It's Crazy Days here in southeastern North Carolina. Well, they really call it the Azalea Festival, a time when the whole community celebrates a bush that blooms in white and red and a hundred shades in between. This year, due to the mild winter, almost all of the azaleas have passed their peak, and even the spring-blooming annuals are looking a bit tired. A lack of floral show won't slow the party down any. All those tourists will just get to see our town decked out in the best color anyway - green!

Bunny, sorry I didn't give an update on Trouble. Unfortunately I found him, and the rattlesnake he tangled with. It was too late to help him, he was already gone.

I guess when you have a nose for trouble, it's gonna come back to bite you eventually (Bunny!

) Pretty impressive that he killed the snake, though.

We have a cat here that had a run-in with some sort of venomous snake, probably a Copperhead. I found her in the workshop about 3 days after it happened. She had fang marks between her right eye and ear, and her head was the size of a softball (fair sized snake, the marks were more than an inch apart). She recovered, though she still has a slight squint to that eye. She also learned her lesson - she leaves all snakes alone, now! She's a great ratter, even catches squirrels, though I wish she'd leave the wild rabbits and birds alone. Absolutely can't trust her around chicks, either.


The funny thing about this black cat, is that the only previous time I'd seen him was the evening when you mentioned that Trouble had gone missing. When I saw him, I thought, " I certainly don't need trouble on my doorstep!" This recent appearance coincided with my taking our 2 young toms to the vet for the ol' "snip, snip." They are inside cats, and had just gotten to that age. It doesn't take long to get tired of the house smelling like "eau de tomcat!" But now, their troubles are behind them. On second thought, their troubles are no longer behind them, they are miles away!

It's alright,I knew it was coming. This makes the fifth time he's been bit. Also the ninth venomous snake he's killed, this one was 3 foot 8 inches. Anyway I only have one young tomcat left and he just got bit! But he's alright, didn't get that much venom. I think I saw the culprit, a two foot long diamondback.Oh the young tom now won't mess with "wrigglers".

Oh Bunny! I knew I liked you! Huge "Raiders" fan (and I don't do pro ball!)
