I've just added another dozen of my new green eggs to the incubator. I'm waiting to see if those already in there are fertile or not and then what will hatch and then what color egg will it lay? I got these "olive eggs" by crossing a blue/green egg laying EE hen with a Black Copper Marans roo. The young pullets that just started laying these look like Blue Copper Marans - some with a muff and some without. Of course, they are not true Blue Copper Marans so I call them my "Olive Eggers"
It will be fun when the grandkids start coming around (one just born two weeks ago) and I can read "Green Eggs and Ham" to them and pull out a few green eggs to cook up. I remember when I read it to my kids and cooked some eggs and added green food color - it did NOT go over well. They looked putrid and I couldn't blame the kids for not eating them. Maybe this newest technique will go over better.
