green fire chick special

Why shouldnt they breed Tolbunt to Tolbunt?

im woindering this myself to

Actually, what I'm thinking they might have meant is that inbreeding after awhile, even in chickens, can cause issues. If all they are doing is keeping the breeding in house, so to speak, at some point you are going to end up with defects. If the introduced new genes at some point then you'd have less problems.

Or, I could be way off base here

I've had two Rare Breed Specials from them and have been very happy. For reasons unnecessary to mention, my orders haven't been quite as diverse as the previous ones posted, but have always received what would have been far more expensive if ordered individually. I really appreciate the help, the willingness to work with changes, and the sincerity of all.

Personally, I feel the amount of money and time they put into their farm, as well as their philosophy, more than justifies the prices they charge. In my own research, it seemed that they would import if the *proper* type was not available in the US or they are trying to preserve something that's nearly extinct. Or, possibly, something they just really, really like. ;-)

They tell you up front where they get their birds, have a page talking about their pricing, etc. Very transparent and conscientious. The RBS is always available, even when it's not posted. Just send an email and ask. From what I've heard from people I respect, that have been into this crazy addictive chicken thing far longer than I, prices come down after a while once the costs are absorbed and the availability comes up. That's business - and if I had the time, the money, and the space, I'd run a farm the same way, I think.

I have ordered from a few other places and, though not unhappy with the experience, feel like I have a relationship with Greenfire - even with my small-time orders. I can't recommend them highly enough.
