So I got some chicks from MM's ornamental layers and I thought these girls were all the same untill I looked at the legs and noticed two had orage legs and three had green legs so now I think they are different breeds but I have no idea what. Any help?

First the orange legged gals . . .

the above with the orange legs look similar to the below except for the green legs . . .

Any help with figuring out what these girls are?

Thanks,

Mike

essentually EE's are mutts, and you can't really predict what they are all going to look like, even from the same hatch, some may take on trates more than others. they are very cute though

I would hope they didn't send me mutts as Mcmurray advertised them as stand breed ornamentals.

They are mutts, but very popular ornamental mutts

Hatcheries aren't always completely accurate in their description with Aracaunas either. ALL Aracaunas from hatchery stock aren't true Aracaunas. Hatcheries have been compared as the equivalent of puppy mills of the chicken world. They are still cute birds though, don't get me wrong. They are however pet quality and only ornamental, not good for breeding stock. EE's are however a big seller for those who want green eggs, so it's not a loss.

I think first 2 are Silver Leghorn and second 3 are Silver Phoenix.NO WAY EE-they are to uniform. Not every bird we can not recognise is EE.

The first two do look alike and the last three do all look like each other and while my uneducated eye can only really pick up the obvious leg color differences, someone else probably could see other things. They are definatly two different things though. Thanks for all the help.

I had 2 Aracauna's from Mt. Healthy hatcheries and an extra chick that I thought was also an Aracauna. One of them looked exactly like those chicks...sort of like a chipmunk stripe w/ orange legs. The other had a leopard spotted head & green legs. The third ended up being a brown leghorn. I had quite a time trying to figure this Aracauna vs. EE thing out. Yours are very cute!
