Hello! I have a broody silkie who has kicked out all of her eggs but one, and her one egg is hatching.
The baby pipped earlier today, maybe four ours ago. Silkie momma has been switching around nests with one of my other broody hens that acts as a baby sitter, and I’ve checked on the chick just now. I noticed that around where the chick has pipped, the membrane is turning green.
I’m worried about if she’s going to have a hard time during the zipping process or if she’ll be fine. She peeps loudly when I come close or when I tap the egg, so I’m hoping she’s still strong and healthy.
Any advice would be great!! Thanks.

Sorry, no one was able to answer, how did your hatch go?
