Too cold in Connecticut for kudzu, isn't it? Non-toxic evergreen isn't an easy find. What about a tight hedge - not familiar with your climate, but a cedar, juniper or pine species would be both evergreen and non toxic; yew is very poisonous. don't use honeysuckles or privets, not so much toxic as invasive, IMO.
