Greener Pasutres Recipe is preferred over chick starter

Most stores have these in bulk so you can scoop as little as you need. And yes this recipe isn't going to save anyone any money. Organic feed is expensive. The reason I am paying that much for feed is that the price for organic eggs is almost $4 a dozen and a pound of organic chicken breast is almost $8.

Sounds like a good recipe. I'll try it when my chicks arrive. Thanks for sharing the link. why not grow some of the stuff your self. (thats for people that can do that).

I planted a 12' plot of hard red winter wheat a few weeks ago. I used about a pound of wheat from my market. It has germinated and is about 3 inches tall right now. I don't know how much I will get from it, I think I might just let the chickens have their way with it once it is ready for harvest!

I was using it and the chickens just love it. You can get #50 of hemp from Canada and ship it down...a little pricey but they go crazy for it and since it's such a high protein you really don't use that much at one time(we have over 150 chickens so we have lots of feed) We also added Natural kelp to it.
Luckily now my local feed store is making one nearly identical to it and since they buy in very large bulk it is so much cheaper now.
I took a look at normal chicken food-it looked awful. We only eat all natural and whole foods so if our chickens ate less it wouldn't be good.I know spoiled chickens

It's not about saving money in our house it's about the food we eat and don't eat.
