My dad is in town and we worked on the run over the last week. It's not pretty, but it's functional. It's not predator-proof yet, besides dogs, but they are what worries me the most around here anyway. We will cover it and get the apron extended a little more over the next little while.
It's around 18x10. The idea is that it will mostly just be in case we have a concern about predators (a hawk hanging around, a stray dog in the neighbourhood, etc.), but otherwise they'll either be completely free range or in rotating pastures. We haven't decided which yet. I think it depends on how much poop we get on our deck.
They seem to like it. They were out in the rain all day yesterday. I was actually pretty worried last night, when I went to lock them in for they night they were all soaking wet, and it still gets pretty cold here at night. But this morning they were all fine and already waiting by the pop door (even though yesterday was the first time they'd been out through it) and as soon as I opened it they started jumping out and went right back out into the rain again. The Orpingtons seem to have a bit of trouble getting out of it though, I think we're going to have to put a perch or a step on the inside.
ETA: We will also be putting corner braces on the corners too. We plan to cover the run with a tarp or maybe something better in the winter. Mostly for rain, but we do get a little bit of snow too. It won't be sturdy enough to hold a lot of snow so if we don't make a "real" roof we'll be out there shaking it off, but that's okay.
