Hi everyone!
I'm new to BackYard Chickens and I would LOVE to have some backyard chickens. Currently were I live the ordinance is as follows:
The Miami Township Zoning Resolution (Chapter 28) restricts the ownership of poultry to hens and only on land parcels that are more than five acres. In addition, coops or other shelters must be located a minimum of two-hundred (200) feet from any property line.
As you can see, this is extremely restrictive. Id' like to know if anyone has ever written up a proposal for their county to change the zoning ordinance? I'd like to submit a proposal for change, but am unsure of what and how to write it. I'm a creative writer and need more help with the more legal terms I would need in order for my proposal to be taken seriously.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
