I have 2 Dove Eggs that were abandoned by the mother. This is the third year she came back to the exact same nest on my porch. I was overly excited and one morning when checking her she was gone. The next day still gone. After about a week she still has not came back so I peeked in the nest and sure enough two eggs. Something must have happened to her. I took the eggs with the nest brought them inside and have them in a box with a heating pad underneath nest is wrapped in warm (not wet) cloths. I also have a heating light I keep on during the day and turn off at night. Is there anything I should or shouldnt be doing or any advice you may have is greatly appreicated.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If she had started the incubation and then got killed and couldn't return, the embryos likely died. After trying to incubate them for a week, candle them to check for development.
