Hi all!
I am about to embark on my first chicken ownership adventure...meaning, as I have heard, they will own me...
I have wanted them for years, and finally wore my husband down enough that he is building me a chicken tractor/coop. I needed his cooperation for this endeavor as I am capable of keeping anything alive and thriving but am beyond hopeless when it comes to carpentry.
We live on 20 acres, part wooded and part pasture, with three horses, two dogs, four cats, a goldfish, and our two sons. We own a plumbing and heating company which of course consumes most of our time, and my husband is a tractor puller in his spare time (when he's not building chicken coops, or repairing dirt bikes and four wheelers for the kids, or putting up fencing, or baling hay
). I tell people that my hobbies are gardening and horseback riding, but really my hobbies mostly consist of waiting on and cleaning up after various two and four legged children. So I figured, what's a few more, right? Might as well get some chickens.
