Hello fellow chicken families. My daughters and I have recently fulfilled the dream of owning chickens. We are wannabe farms girls from the Bluegrass. We have a couple of acres that we garden on. Our pets are; one little mutt, one big cat, a few fish, and now 8 chicks. We phone ordered them from Mt. Healthy Hatchery and picked them up because they're only about 45 minutes from us. We did not know of the hatcheries salmonella issues at that time, but I will say that our chicks are gorgeous and healthy, and we're happy as can be with them! We practice good hand washing and we've not had a problem. We have; 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Colombian Rock (the boss), 1 Jersey Giant (the sweet one), 2 Barred Rocks (the brave comedians), 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte (the serious deva) , and (2 more given to us by a friend) 1 Red Comet and 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, who are just trying to fit in. Well, I guess that's all there is to say for now. Glad to meet y'all!

Ooops, I should mention, that is not a picture of our chicken. It was at a petting farm last year. Ha ha ha!
