Hello all! I've been reading and learning so much here that I decided to join up. I must say, it's so nice to find others that are just as obsessed with chickens as I've become lol.

I'm a Texas native that is now living (with my 16 year old son) in my husband's birth home in wonderful England. We are blessed to have around three acres in a lovely countryside just on the northern Wales border. We are in the process of transforming it to our dream home, complete with fruit trees, a pond, a wooded landscape and of course chickens!

We currently have breeding stock consisting of: Barred Plymouth Rocks, Light Sussex, Rhode Island Reds, Black Copper Marans, Wheaten Marans, and Welsummers.
We also have some juvenile Partridge Brahma, Cream Legbars, and Black Rock hybrids.

Add to that some miniature Silver Appleyard and Khaki Campbell ducks, as well as one old cranky goose and one slightly daft black lab; you can see that we are one crazy family lol. My husband first bought me chickens three years ago and I fell in love. We only last year began our breeding adventure and I'm loving every minute of it. I can't wait to learn even more as we go!

Looking forward to the ride, Val.

Hi :welcome Val from Yorkshire UK

Glad you could join the flock! You have certainly come to the right place for lots of chicken obsessed people here!! I'm one of them :yiipchick Many many more too here!

Three acres sounds great and what a lovely mix of birds you have there. Wishing you the very best of luck with the breeding of them. I have two pens of polish that I'm breeding from at the moment. Chicks are selling well and I've got another 28 set in the incubator now on day 4, can't wait for the first candling to see how they are going. Drop by the UK thread there may be more chicken crazy people closer than you think. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi/0_20

Those are my juvenile brahma and Black rocks in my avatar, the closest one was a little buff cockerel I called "Pooh Bear". Unfortunately, we lost him just last week due to a dislocated foot :hit. I'm still gutted over it, but they are all very curious and friendly!
