I wanted a variety of colors so I chose my flock based on egg color, as well as the ability to cope with the wet weather here, and to be able to forage. So it really depends on what you want from your birds and if you have a preference for any type of egg.

So I got my catalog and have started to really look.
Using the breed tool there were some that appealed to me before and then it seemed that they werent the right fit for me.
I need something thats friendly. I am looking at the Stars for one. I am guessing as far as which color it is just a preference?

In my opinion, I'd get Rhode Island Reds, or Delawares.

Delawares are good egg layers (I don't know about their personality, as I've never had one).

Rhode Island Reds are good companions and egg layers.
