(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes / We got our fertilized eggs in Jan 2022.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have three chickens (2 males and 1 female).
(3) What breeds do you have?
They are all “Barnyard mix banthams”
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are so affectionate and smart. They remind us of our cat, because they “purr” when they are happy and they don’t have any “BO” which is quite amazing
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We do a lot of outdoor activities – mountain bike riding, soccer, swimming and play the guitar and piano. My son also rides the horse.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
There are 3 humans – dad, mom, and son (5 yrs) and we have a 13 year old cat that has travelled with us and lived in 3 continents. We move quite a bit because of my occupation. We now live in a game reserve in eSwatini, Africa where our chicken sometimes interacts with the wild game here.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
We have been quietly visiting the community for about 6 months and have benefitted so much from the members. We wanted to also share our experience hoping that it can be helpful to other members of this awesome community
