I've finally decided to join the group, after reading your articles and posts for the last 2 years. I'm a new chicken owner, just got my first "straight run" SLW chicks this past March from a breeder, and thanks to the knowladge I gleened from all your members, everything whent GREAT. We never had a problem with anthing, no runny poo, no pasty bottom, no sick chicks, As a matter of fact I started with 5 baby chicks and I now have four three and a half month old health strong roosters and one hen. Thats not exactly what I was I hoping for. So now I have to decide what to do. Do I cull the roosters and enjoy them in soup? Is there any market for selling SLW roosters, for a reasonable price? Can I trade some roosters for a hen? Do I keep one rooster and try to build my flock up using the hen and rooster I have? I was really hoping for a small flock of 5 or 6 SLW hens. I cant find any SLWs around hear, except from the breeder I originally bought my chicks from and he only sells straight run chicks, period. I don't think I want to do that again right away. Looks like I'm goimg to end up with a mixed flock. Any suggestions? Anybody want a SLW rooster? Anybody have a SLW hen? HELP!!!!!
