---This site is wonderful! I have been on here since last April when we were trying to purchase 5 acres in Mountain Home, ID. We finally moved in at the end of July but one of the original things we wanted to do with all this land is have chickens. We were going to wait until the spring but one of my hubby's co-workers is giving away their chickens (they have 8) and we are going to take 3 of them. I think (hubby didn't ask) that they are Rhode Island Reds and they are still laying eggs but we are unsure as to their age, so we are building a coop in the middle of this cold snap so we can be ready for them after New Years. Anyway, this site has helped me so much and I have never even really been around a chicken so this is all new to us, lol! Welcome! and I hope to see you around.

It seems that we too are building in a cold snap! the coop we inherited is waaaayyy to small - trying to work outside in the weather is a pain! Sunday the boyz kept a bonfire going to help us thaw out.

I'm so glad I found this site - so much information! I'm more of a lurker, not too many posts but I'm sure I'll be seeing you guys in the threads.
