My name is Matt and we're new to this site (and to raising chickens).
I had no idea it would become such a passion. But I find it quite enjoyable to care for them. They have amazing personalities (I had no idea before), and finding ways to upgrade their coop is a never-ending hobby.
I'll use the template provided for some background:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - Yup...new. We're one of "those folks" who bought chicks right before Easter. We had been talking about it for about a year, and more and more of our friends had already done it, so we decided it was time to pull the trigger.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Six.
(3) What breeds do you have? Two Buff Orpingtons, two Barred Plymouth Rocks and two Golden Wyandottes.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? probably from Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? oh my....fishing, crabbing, video gaming, internet marketing, scuba diving, spear fishing, photography.....and more.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Wife and I have 2 kids - 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, both of whom love the chickens. We also have a dog.
