Ruby 3.jpg Hello, I live in a lit'l ol' cow town about 45 minutes north of Denver. I have 10 hens and 2 roosters. Luckily for me, my town has a limit of 12 poultry~~~I say luckily because I would have many more so it keeps me at a good amount. I have 1 pug, 2 Shih tzus and 3 cats that all interact with the chickens. 1 of the Shih tzus and 1 of the cats eat cantaloupe and watermelon with the chickens. I enjoy just hanging outside with all the pets, they relax me.

I am a veterinarian technician and so all my chickens are rescues. I adopted my 1 rooster from a local human society when he was at least 4 years old. He is now about 7 and still doing well. Others I adopted from people who didn't want them anymore because they weren't producing eggs. I don't mind if they lay eggs so I give them a home for their 'retirement'.

I learned of Backyard Chickens several years ago doing research on the internet.

My first chicken was back in the 1990s when I rescued her from the side of I-70 in Ohio. I was hooked!
I love being part of the chicken population throughout the country and enjoy sharing stories and reading about others chickens. I have learned so much from the forums.
