Well, life brings us full circle. I was raised in Trinity, NC on a small family farm where we raised chickens, cows, pigs and other small livestock. We raised most of these for our own consumption or to use the products they produced like eggs or milk. I left Tinity and joined the Navy and 22 years later I have found myself in Gates, NC getting ready to retire and what am I doing...getting ready to build my first chicken coop. My wife and I are starting our small flock with 8 Rhode Island Reds.

So anyway, here I am and extremly excited about coming full circle in my life.

Welcome from California. It's true about the "full circle". The good thing is that I feel like that girl again as I work in the garden and play with my chickens. We have one RIR hen named "Rosie". She is a sweetheart and a glutton! Enjoy your retirement. It is close to heaven!
