Hello, two weeks ago, I was surprised to find a single chicken in my yard because I didn't even know our neighborhood had chickens. My cats were curious about her so I decided to rescue her. I was able to coax her into a pet carrier while I tried to find her owner. Nobody claimed her and I didn't have a place to keep her but a young woman said she could keep her temporarily. Her chickens would not welcome the new Americana hen, and pecked her badly so the woman separated her from them. I agreed to take her back after we built a chicken coop for her. She is content in her new home and is becoming attached to us. While getting supplies for her, we also got seven baby chicks who are being kept under a light. I have been learning about integration and find this site very helpful. Thank you.
