Greetings from Scotland

Hello, and a belated welcome to BYC. Once deposed it is generally very difficult for a rooster to regain dominance in the flock. As long as he has enough space to get away from his son, he should be okay.
He has an acre to run away in the yard, and has discovered how to jump the fence surrounding it, gaining himself unlimited acreage. Johnny stays near his girls and doesn't try to follow him over the fence.

I am trying out Shadrach's advice on making a separate tribe for William with his loyal girls in a new coop. He has been escorting them in and out of the new coop, mating with them, and they have laid some eggs in there, so I think he will be fine and have a happy tribe, although definitely not the dominant one anymore.

Chickens never cease to fascinate and amuse ☺

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
