Hello. We are not new to chickens as my wife raised chickens and turkeys when she was younger. We have had chickens now since 2013 (when I was a newbie). We have 6 chickens now, 2 Easter eggers, 1 Leghorn, 1 Rhode Island red, 1 Barred Rock and 1 Australorp. I found Backyard Chickens when searching online for help with sick chickens. The forums were immensely helpful and provided me with information that helped save one of our girls. We love to travel and luckily we have friends that "house sit " for us and care for the girls and our rat terrier if he can't go with us. I am a retired Fire Captain and my wife is a Registered Nurse. We hope to be able to give back to the forum in repayment for the knowledge we have gotten from it.
