Hello everyone! I’m Vicky and I’m so eggcited to be here to learn, grow, and hopefully contribute to others one day!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New! Don’t have any yet. I’m in the dreaming and planning stage!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Zero

(3) What breeds do you have?
None but I know I want silver lace, Rhode Island Red, maybe bantams

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching them scratching, love listening to them, love eggs!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My grandchildren, activism, church

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am mom to 6 adult children and gramma to 4 so far! I work full time as an auditor in Virginia Beach and we have 1 very living kitty. Tuxedo.
I plan to start raised bed gardening too. Want to become self-sustaining eventually.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I just searched chicken coops and your site popped up!

This is a great place to learn about all aspects of raising chickens; good for you doing some research first.

I've had a Rhode Island Red and absolutely ADORE all of my Bantams (with the possible exception of Billy Boy, a young man with a big attitude). But chickens are great, no matter which breed(s) you choose.
