Hi everyone!
My name is Glyn, and with my family we are trying to build the most self sufficient life we can on our tiny patch of land. I'm no stranger to chickens, we had them as children. It has been quite a while though since I've raised a flock. We do not currently have chickens, however their coop is being built now. I'm hoping to have chickens by fall, and really look forward to fresh eggs. I've used the forums here for a source of information for quite some time now. Although it was mostly for research, I feel like that is turning into practical application rather quickly.
I also maintain a blog to chronicle our journey toward the goal of a more sustainable life. www.lilredhomestead.com I welcome anyone that wants to have a look to stop and enjoy. The other goal of maintaining the blog is to show people like myself that a good life can be made from a small property. I hope that it helps to break some people out of the paralysis that we suffered from when trying to figure out the way.
It is very easy to get stuck in the loop thinking that you need to have many many acres to move toward sustainability. While this makes it easier for sure, a good life can be had on small acreage.
On the homestead it is My wife and I, our two daughters, two dogs and two cats. My wife and I both currently work at normal jobs, and I pray one day to break that horrible cycle though.
Outside of that we are normal folks. We garden each year, keep a greenhouse, and enjoy all the fun things that make life grand.
I look forward to meeting you all and building bonds over small feathery critters.
Best wishes.
