Hello fellow enthusiasts! My family and I are new to the chicken adventure and couldn't be more excited. We are in the design phase of a chicken tractor and plan to start our little flock in the spring. Considering 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Rhode Island Reds, and 2Easter Eggers...we've been gardeners for years and looking to expand into more homesteading opportunities. Thank you for having us and look forward to sharing the journey with y'all!

G’Day from down under fourarrows :frow Welcome!

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of the coop build or your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Thank you for the warm welcome! And for pointing me in some right directions...I'm already a little obsessed with this so it's good to know I'll be among an understanding bunch :)

Oh yeah .. build big! Chicken math is real and will happen! ;)

Hi fourarrows!

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Yourchickens will absolutely thank you for it! The breeds you are considering sound great! Feel free to ask/post for advice anytime and we all would be happy to help!
