Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I now know that it is best to steer clear of the feed stores until I have my set up worked out. Still unsure about the status of "to hatch or not to hatch".
I just found out that I do not need to apply for a building permit in order to construct the shed-coop (...shoop?) that I have designed.

Now to commit to a foundation style and wait for the ground to thaw... come on spring!!
